Of all the car maintenance tasks, oil changes are by far one of the most important. But have you ever wondered why it’s such a necessity? You can learn more about this, plus other common inquiries and general oil change facts, by reading the information below. If you still have questions, don’t hesitate to contact our service department by calling (219) 947-1500.
Why should you change your vehicle’s engine oil on a regular basis? Oil lubricates the components of your Kia model’s engine, and if the oil is low, more friction will occur as a result. The more friction your engine experiences, the more your engine components will wear down or work improperly. Engine repairs can be costly, so ensure you maintain a regular oil change schedule. Look to your owner’s manual for a schedule that suits your vehicle’s engine.
There are many causes of an engine oil leak, the most common being worn down engine gaskets, oil pan leaks, and damaged oil seals. If you happen to notice oil leaks on your driveway or need more frequent oil changes, make sure you have your engine inspected as soon as possible. An engine oil leak can cause certain components to degrade and turn into a fire risk if the leak is left unmanaged.
The oil light illuminates on your dashboard when the engine oil is low, indicating that there isn’t enough oil to properly lubricate the engine components.
Although a burning smell from under the hood could indicate a number of problems, one common cause is leaking engine oil. If you notice this while driving, you should pull over and inspect the issue or call for assistance.
If you need oil change services ASAP, then schedule your appointment by filling out our easy-to-use form or calling the service center at (219) 947-1500.
